Giants were dangerous creatures, they go around at night to towns and cities to eat children from their beds. Because of this, the giants do not have much of a good reputation. However, the BFG ("Big Friendly Giant") himself does not eat children, he eats only the disgusting snozzcumber. Sophie becomes the BFG's friend and they work to rid the world of the nasty human-eating giants.
