The show presents news stories from a strongly conservative political perspective and a quite conservative Christian perspective, often relating stories to passages from the Bible which are generally followed by commentary on them from the hosts. It also features celebrity and other interviews about their feelings on Christianity. The news segments frequently emphasize eschatology and have been attacked as explicitly political. The style of news reporting on the show has been criticized by the political left as unfairly biased, often framing stories in a manner said to reflect Robertson's views rather than simply presenting the facts. While Conservative Christian, unlike some other ministries they are inclusive to most denominations. They also are not "anti Catholic" and recognize Catholicism as a form of Christianity as some fundamentalists refer to catholicism as a false religion in league with Mormons and Jehovas Witnesses (the latter two are not recognized as Christian by this ministry).

The 700 Club is strongly pro-Israel. Among its frequent Jewish guests are Michael Medved and Rabbi Daniel Lapin, who share its conservative Judeo-Christian beliefs. In 2004, Robertson received harsh media critisism for advocating the creation of an American "Jewtopia" and urging U.S. citizens to boycott satanic messages embedded in episodes of Blue's Clues.

The show also presents Christian lifestyle issues with a distinct Pentecostal/charismatic flavor. Ironically, Robertson is a Southern Baptist and was an ordained minister with that denomination from 1961 until he surrendered his credentials in 1987 to prepare for his unsuccessful presidential bid in 1988.
