Thank U
Thank U was the leadoff single from Alanis Morissette's highly anticipated second album, Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie. The single's music video was shocking both for its depiction of a naked Alanis and for its serenity quite evenly matched to the lyrics of the song. Heart-felt and extremely passionate, the lyrics had a personal touch upon worldly topics, from her love of India to dealing with life and death. Although it failed to capture the imagination of audiences world-wide, the video is still praised by her fans as revolutionary.

The single was released in October of 1998. The excitement generated sent the single to #2 on the airplay charts nearly immediately, and helped the song achieve a peak of #17 on the Billboard Hot 100, which was strong, but not as successful as the hits from Jagged Little Pill. It's generally remembered as her most notable song after Jagged Little Pill. Slight modifications to the video were made before broadcasting by MTV in India and certain other Asian countries. Subsequent replays, however, aired the video in its original format.
