Tezpur


 
 

Tezpur, Assam is an ancient town on the northern banks of the river Brahmaputra flowing through the Assam valley. Currently it is the headquarters of the Sonitpur district of Assam.

There are lots of temples and ancient ruins from almost two thousand years ago in this area. The Kaliabhomora Setu is the longest bridge across the river and spans a total of 3015 meters. It was opened in the mid 80's and had become a tourist attraction by itself.

It has its own airfield nearby (Salonibari) which is also a major Air Force base in this part of India.
