Ted McCarty
Former President of Gibson. During his tenure, Les Paul's solidbody electric design came to fruition and became the flagship instrument of the company. Never satisfied, McCarty sought to create a hybrid design which would include the sustain of a solidbody electric, with the mellow warmth of a hollowbody. The ES-335 was created as a "semi hollow", with a central block and hollow wings.
