Technical drawing

Technical drawing, also known as drafting or draughting, is the technique of creating engineering drawings. A skilled practitioner of the art is known as a draftsman or draftsperson (or draughtsman, draughtsperson).

Today the mechanics of the drafting task have been largely automated, and greatly accelerated, through the use of CAD systems, but the task of revision control of engineering drawings remains un-automated.
