Tata Steel
Envisioned by Jamshetji Tata and established in 1907, Tata Steel (formerly TISCO - Tata Iron and Steel Company Limited) is Asia's first and India's largest integrated private sector steel company. Tata Steel is 4 million tonne steel giant. The plant is located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. The registered office is at Mumbai, India. By the year 2000, the company was recognised as the World's lowest cost producer of Steel.

Tata Steel's turnover in fiscal 2002-03 was nearly Rs 98,000,000,000 (Rs 9800 crores). The company's profit in the same year was Rs 10,120,000,000 (Rs 1,012 crores), which is its highest ever profit, and it produced a record-breaking 3.98 million tonnes of saleable steel. In fiscal 2003-04, turnover rose to Rs 120,000,000,000 (Rs 12,000 crores) (about US $2.8 billion) with a profit of over Rs 17,000,000,000 (Rs 1700 crores). Expected turnover and profit in 2004-05 are Rs 150,000,000,000 and Rs 35,000,000,000 (Rs 15,000 and 3500 crores) respectively.
