Tarapacá Region
Tarapacá is Chile's northernmost administrative region, hence also known as I Región ("1st Region") in the standard north-to-south numbering of Chilean regions.

Tarapacá is a former Peruvian province, which was transferred to neighbouring Chile under the 1883 Treaty of Ancón at the close of the War of the Pacific.
