The term tanker can refer to several different things:

- A tanker is a ship designed to carry bulk liquids, particularly oil. See also:
- Chemical tanker
- Supertanker
- A tanker, also called a tank car or cylinder wagon, is a special type of railroad freight car, designed for carrying bulk liquids.
- A tanker, also called a tank truck or tanker lorry, is a heavy road vehicle designed for the same purpose.
- A tanker is also a piece of firefighting equipment used to carry or shuttle large amounts of water to a fire scene where traditional fire plugs (hydrants) are not available. This piece of equipment is most commonly seen in rural firefighting.
- A tanker is an airplane designed for in-flight refuelling.
- A tanker is any crew member of a main battle tank.
- A tanker, in the massive-multiplayer lingo, is a character able to resist or shrug off heavy amounts of damage relatively unharmed. A party with a tanker usually use him as a monster bait -- while he 'takes' the damage, the rest of the party members actually kill the monsters. In some games, a fighter or occasionally thief character will fill this role, while mages attack the monsters.
