Take Me With U
"Take Me With U" was the final US single released from Prince and The Revolution's smash album, Purple Rain. The song is fairly standard pop music, notable for the drum solo and finger cymbals that open the song and repeat again toward the end. The song is sung as a duet with Apollonia and was originally intended for the Apollonia 6 album, but was pulled for the Purple Rain soundtrack instead. An unfortunate result of this addition was making crucial cuts to the suite-like "Computer Blue", which circulates amongst collectors in a superior, though unreleased extended version. Regardless, "Take Me With U" was a welcome addition to the album, showing a softer side of Prince and becoming his first "official" deut. The single was released with album track, "Baby, I'm A Star" as its B-side, and reached #25 on the Top-40 chart in the US.
