~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Swingline was founded as a division of ACCO in 1925 by Jack Linsky as the Parrot Speed Fastener Company, and opened its first manufacturing facility in 1931. In 1939, the company changed its name to Speed Products, and in 1956, became Swingline. It became a division of American Brands (now Fortune Brands) in 1987.
ACCO: Acco was a chief of the Senones in Gaul, who induced his countrymen to revolt against Julius Caesar in 53 BC. On the conclusion of the war, and after a conference at Durocortorum, Caesar had Acco tried and convicted on charges of treason. As punishment, he was flogged to death....
