Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts

The Swedish National Museum of Fine Arts, or Nationalmuseum, is located in Stockholm, Sweden. It boasts an impressive art collection due to its benefactors, King Gustav III and Carl Gustaf Tessin. The museum was founded in 1792 as Konglig Museum (Royal Museum), but the building at the current location was opened in 1866. It was at this time that the name Nationalmuseum was bestowed. The present-day location is in itself impressive. The current building is styled after Florentine and Venetian Renaissance architecture.
