Suspicious Minds

"Suspicious Minds" was a song performed most notably by Elvis Presley, and was widely regarded as the single that jumpstarted his career after his successful '68 Comeback Special. It was Elvis's seventeenth #1 single in the United States.

Written by Mark James (who also wrote "Always On My Mind" for Elvis), the song was recorded along with another hit single, In the Ghetto in the "Memphis sessions" of January 1969. He first performed the song at the Las Vegas Hilton on July 26, and the 45 rpm single was released in the fall. It reached #1 the week of November 1 and stayed there for that week. It would be Elvis's final #1 single before his death (a posthumous release of "A Little Less Conversation" would hit #1 on the British charts in 2002).
