Super Mario 64 DS

Super Mario 64 DS is an enhanced remake of 1996's Super Mario 64 and one of the launch titles for the Nintendo DS. This remake features various new characters, levels, modes of play and minigames, much of which takes advantage of the features of the DS system.

Story

Super Mario 64 DS begins when Mario receives an invitation to a birthday party at Princess Peach's castle, with Luigi and Wario tag along. Yoshi was sleeping on the castle as they entered, and awoke to realize they have not left yet. He used a key he had acquired from MIPS the rabbit, and entered. Once he entered the castle, however, Yoshi discovers that King Bowser has taken over, and has kidnapped Mario, Luigi, Wario, Princess Peach and all of the Toads in the castle. Mario and friends must defeat King Bowser and release Princess Peach from captivity by obtaining Power Stars that were scattered throughout different levels, with secret stars that King Bowser was unaware of.

When the Nintendo DS was first revealed, Super Mario 64 DS was an early production demo, thought to be a port of the original on the N64, but it was announced later on as a confirmed Nintendo DS release game. In its early stages, the game was called Super Mario 64x4 (hence the four player wireless part of the game.)
