Summertime (film)
Summertime is a 1955 film directed by David Lean starring Katharine Hepburn and Rossano Brazzi. It was adapted by H. E. Bates, Lean and Donald Ogden Stewart (uncredited) from the play The Time of the Cuckoo by Arthur Laurents.

Summertime tells the story of an American woman who falls in love in while on holiday in Venice. It was filmed entirely on location in Venice and it is much appreciated for the sumptuous portrayal of the city.

It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Katharine Hepburn) and Best Director. In Britain, the film was initially released under the title Summer Madness.
