Sul Ross State University
Sul Ross State University is a university located in Alpine, Texas. Named after former Texas governor Lawrence Sullivan Ross, it was founded in 1917 as Sul Ross Normal College, and was made a full university in 1969. As of fall 2003, the university reported an enrollment of 2,043 at the Alpine campus.
