Sue Simmons
Sue Simmons (born May 27, 1943) has been the lead female anchor at WNBC-TV in New York since 1980. A native New Yorker, she has been co-anchor for Live at Five with several co-anchors, including Jack Cafferty, Tony Guida, Matt Lauer, Dean Shepard, Jim Rosenfield, and Perri Peltz, and 11PM weeknight anchor with Chuck Scarborough.
Facts about Sue
- Sue's father is John Simmons, a noted jazz bassist
- She was the co-host of the syndicated programme Images - A Year in Review in the late 1980s.
- Sue was one of the first inductees into New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame in 2005. She was inducted with Chuck Scarborough, her 11 PM co-anchor. The pair has been anchoring together since 1980.
- Every year on February 2nd, Groundhog's Day, and live on-air during the evening news broadcast, Sue does a cute facial impression of a groundhog for fun.
