Sue Miller
Co-owner (with Julia Adams) of legendary Chicago indie rock club Lounge Ax. As a booking agent in 1980s Chicago, Miller was one of a small but very important group of booking agents who were responsible for nurturing the embryonic punk rock and indie rock scene in 1980s Chicago. Through her efforts as a booking agent at West End (club), Cubby Bear, and later at her own club, Lounge Ax, Miller helped sustain the then newly emerging community of independent musicians, and helped foster the now thriving independent music scene in Chicago. Lounge Ax was shuttered in 2000 because the property's landlord would not renew their lease. The club fell victim to the (still on-going) gentrification of Lincoln Park, the (now) affluent community the club was located in. Trivia: Miller is married to Jeff Tweedy of Wilco.
