Styx

Styx has several meanings:

• In Greek mythology, the river Styx formed the boundary between the living world and the underworld. Styx is also the name of a primordial goddess who represented that river, a daughter of Erebus and Nyx.
• Styx is also the network protocol at the heart of the Inferno operating system. See 9P.
• The Styx forest in Tasmania, Australia which has become a political and activist issue due to logging.
• Styx is an American rock and roll band. It could also refer to two of their albums; see Styx (album) and Styx II.
• Styx is the name of a brand of cigarette papers in the UK.
• Styx is a computer game for the ZX Spectrum written by Matthew Smith.
• Styx is also the name of a planet in Star Ocean 3 which features the Time Gate, a gateway between dimensions.
