"Stupid Girl" kicks off with the sure-stomp drum loop, and slides into a song of ambient electronics and grinding samples under a guitar hook that made for one of the biggest hits of '96.

"Stupid Girl" features bass by Mike Kashou and additional percussion by Pauli Ryan, as well as a drum loop from "Train In Vain" by The Clash. Thus the song is credited to Garbage/Strummer/Jones. A rumor circulated that the song also samples the opening drum beat from R.E.M.'s "Orange Crush", but this has not been proven nor credited.
