Stratoscope

Stratoscope is the label of two balloon deceit mirror telescope with whose aid in the 60er and '70er's above all investigations in the infrared area were carried out at galaxies and red giant. Stratoscope I possessed a mirror diameter of 30.48 centimeters. That of succession devices Stratoscope II possessed a mirror diameter of 91.4 centimeters and a weight of 3.5 tons. It was operated like Stratoscope I remote-controlled. As picture detectors, initially photographic films were used, which were removed later by tv cameras.
