Steve Burns

Steve Burns (b. October 9, 1973) is a rock guitarist and former television actor. Though Burns' primary aim is music, he has had somewhat more fortune in acting; he is most well-known for his hosting of the television show Blue's Clues on Nickelodeon from 1996 to 2002. After leaving the show, Burns began work on and, in 2003, released a début album, Songs for Dustmites, with assistance from friends Steven Drozd, drummer for The Flaming Lips, and producer Dave Fridmann of Tarbox Road Studios. During the recording, he also had a role as an engineer aboard a spacecraft in The Flaming Lips' film, Christmas on Mars.

In December of 1998, a rumor that Burns had overdosed on heroin and died spread quickly. On December 17 of that year, Burns appeared on both The Today Show and The Rosie O'Donnell Show to quell the rumor and show the world he was alive and well. This rumor may have come about on account of the fact that a minor character that Steve Burns played on Law & Order had been arrested, because the police assumed he was on drugs, when he was actually autistic, and he died in prison that night.
