At the Edinburgh Television Festival in August 2004, Frears revealed that he was currently in pre-production of a second feature starring actor Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, the same part he had played in The Deal. Provisionally titled The Queen and set during the week between the death and funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales in 1997, the film is also due to star Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. It is projected for a release date sometime in 2005.
