Stephanie J. Block

Stephanie J. Block is an American stage actress. She is a member of the Los Angeles Musical Theater Guild. Stephanie debuted on Broadway in 2003, playing Liza Minnelli alongside Hugh Jackman in the acclaimed musical The Boy from Oz. Before that, she served as the understudy for Idina Menzel as Elphaba and was part of the ensemble in the hit musical Wicked, while the show was in its pre-Broadway tryout at the Curran Theatre in San Francisco. Unknown by most, she was actually the original choice for the part and worked with Stephen Schwartz while the musical was still in early development, before Ms. Menzel became involved. In spring of 2005, she began playing Elphaba in the musical's first national tour. She is expected to leave the tour around March of 2006.
