Stefan Lessard

Stefan Kahil Lessard (born June 4, 1974) is an American musician, most famous as the bassist for the Dave Matthews Band.

He was born in Anaheim, CA to two musicians, Ron and Janaki Lessard. After moving around the country during his childhood, Stefan and his family settled in Charlottesville, VA in 1989. He enrolled in the Tandem School for music, where he studied under John D'earth, who would later be responsible for recommending Stefan to Dave Matthews for the band. He joined the band when he was 16. At the time, he was so young that they had to sneak him in the back door of the clubs where they played. His senior year, he dropped out of high school to tour with the band full-time, opting to get his GED.
