State University of New York at Oswego

The State University of New York at Oswego was founded in 1861 as Oswego Normal School by Edward Austin Sheldon and became the New York State Teachers College at Oswego in 1948. In 1962 Oswego broadened its scope to become an arts and sciences institution. Now SUNY Oswego has three schools -- the College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and School of Education -- located on the shore of Lake Ontario near Oswego, New York.

Campus

Originally founded in the city of Oswego, the university moved to its current location on the shore of Lake Ontario in 1913 after Sheldon Hall was constructed.

The campus today consists of 45 buildings with classroom, laboratory, residential, and athletic facilities. Recent years have witnessed the launch of a $100 million campus-wide renovation and renewal program, with the new Campus Center ? the first new-from-the-ground-up building in more than 30 years ? rising into the future social hub of campus.
