State sponsored terrorism
State sponsored terrorism is a term used to denote the use of terrorist organizations and/or terrorist attacks in other nations to promote a state's interests in the international arena. Unlike State terrorism which is considered to be directed against elements opposed to the host state, state sponsored terrorism is directed against another nation or country. The intentions of such instigated terrorism are believed to be one or all of the following:

- As acts of retaliation against a target state
This type of terrorism is used as it is believed to result in strategic ends where the use of conventional armed forces is not practical or effective.
