- This episode parodies a great deal of Star Wars, for example, Sally Struthers is a parody of Jabba the Hutt, and Kenny is frozen in carbonite. The episode also parodies Star Trek as well with the CBC starship's bridge being influenced by the layout of the USS Enterprise and a number of references were made to types of technology seen and mentioned in Star Trek.
- This episode greatly mocks Christians, particularly missionaries, and their alleged concern in conversions rather than helping the needy. Pat Robertson's 700 Club is also parodied as the 600 Club on CBC (Christian Broadcasting Channel) - a parody of CBN.
