Starstruck


 

StarStruck is the reality-based talent search in the Philippines. That airs every weeknights from October to February at the GMA Network. It is a show where the winners or "sole survivors" can be chosen by the public through short message service (SMS), telephones, Jollibee stores and it's own website. The show's motto; Dream, Believe, Survive means the contestants have to believe in the power of their dreams and survive. It was one of the most highly rated show during its airing.

The reality-based teen actor search Starstruck has the makings of the basic mediocre reality show contest: unknown contestants, insulting judges, endless challenges, and all the hype and drama on TV. Nevertheless, unoriginal as it may be, the fame and phenomena it came with is somewhat unbelievable.

There will be two winners, a male survivor and a female survivor, at the end of every season. The winners are determined by the votes gathered from the public and the StarStruck Council. However in season 3, from the two ultimate survivors, there will be a Sole Survivor, which will earn him or her an extra prize.

Because of the phenomenal success of the StarStruck Season 1, GMA Network prompted to produce a junior version of the show — StarStruck Kids. Stage 1: The StarStruck Playhouse was also created as a daily show for the Final 14 StarStruck contestants.
