Star system (film)

The star system was the method of creating and promoting film stars in classical Hollywood. Studios would select a promising young actor or actress and create a persona for them, often giving them a new name and inventing a new background for them. Examples of stars who went through the star system include Cary Grant and Joan Crawford.
