The Normandie was a French ocean liner built in Saint-Nazaire, France. When launched she was the ship of superlatives - the largest, fastest, and arguably the greatest ocean liner of all time. She was the first liner to ever surpass 60,000 tons (70,000 and 80,000 as well), first to surpass 1,000 feet in length, and the first ship to make an Atlantic crossing with an average speed of over 30 knots.
