SQUARE ROOTS was a ska/reggae/rock band that was formed in 1986 by surfers from the Pleasure Point surf ghetto, located in Santa Cruz County. Founded by drummer BILLY PITRONE, Square Roots quickly became one of the more successful bands from the Santa Cruz area, regularly touring the West Coast as a headline act and also as an openig act for top national and international bands.

Known for their exciting stage show, innovative original songs and large, dynamic horn section, SQUARE ROOTS was a favorite act at The Catalyst.

SQUARE ROOTS also provide soundtrack work for action sports video/film producers Tony Roberts (TR Productions), Warren Miller Productions, Chris Klopf Films, O'Neill Wetsuits and Body Glove Wetsuits.
