~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
- The term Soviet Russia is sometimes used as a synonym for the Soviet Union.
- Other times, Soviet Russia is used as a synonym for Bolshevist Russia, which is in itself an informal term referring to the Bolshevik side in the Russian Civil War.
- More accurately, the term Soviet Russia refers to the Russian Soviet Federated Socialist Republic (RSFSR). The RSFSR was officially founded in 1918, some months after the October Revolution of 1917. It was meant to encompass the lands inhabited by Russians, but, during the course of the Civil War, there were many Russian lands outside its control and many non-Russian lands within its control. This was remedied after the end of the Civil War, when the borders of the RSFSR we drawn to fit over the areas with a mostly Russian-speaking population, and the RSFSR became one of the founding republics of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics ("Soviet Union" or USSR).
- Soviet Russia was also a newspaper in the Soviet Union.
- Soviet Russia was also the name of a publishing house in the USSR.
- "In Soviet Russia..." can also be an allusion to a type of joke.
