A solid rivet belongs to the most reliable but yet oldest fasteners in technical appliations. Solid rivets were found in archeologic findings dating back to the bronze age.

These fasteners made out of steel can be found in structures like bridges, cranes, buildings and other static structures.

A typical application for solid rivets can be found within the structural parts of aeroplanes. Hundreds of thousands of solid rivets are used to assemble the frame of a modern aircraft.

Such solid rivets come with rounded heads (Universal Head Rivet) or countersunk head (Shear Head, CSK Head, Flush Head).

Typical materials for aircraft rivets are aluminum alloys (2017, 2117, 7050, 5056) and Titanium as well as Nickel based alloys (MONEL(TM)).

The setting of these fasteners requires access from both sides to the structures. Using a hydraulically or pneumatically driven squeezing tool or even hand held hammers solid rivets are driven into the structure.
