A West African smokie is a delicacy made by blowtorching the carcass of an old sheep or goat without removing its fleece.

It is also known as a 'smiley' in South Africa, where only the head of a sheep or goat is torched. It is so called because as the animal's lips burn its teeth are exposed.

In North America a smokie is a smoked pork sausage, and is sold under this name by a variety of food companies.
