A popular opposition chant was "Slobo - Sadame" comparing the Serb leader with his Iraqi counterpart, Saddam Hussein. Another popular saying by his critics was: Slobo spasi Srbiju i ubij se, meaning Sloba, save Serbia and kill yourself, referring to the suicide of his parents. A satirical chant with the line Spasi Srbiju i ubij se, Slobodane was slang on anti-regime protests in Serbia.
