Slidell, Louisiana
Slidell is a city in St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana, situated on the northeast shore of Lake Pontchartrain. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 25,695. It was severely damaged by Hurricane Katrina. As of September 9, 2005, the total extent of the damage is yet to be determined.
Transportation
Amtrak's daily Crescent train connects Slidell with the cities of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Charlotte, Atlanta, Birmingham and New Orleans. The Amtrak train station is situated at 1827 Front Street. Slidell is located at the intersection of I-10, I-12 and I-59 and is the southern terminus of US 11.
