Skara (pop. 10,700, location ) is a town in V?stra G?taland County, in western Sweden and the seat of Skara Municipality. It is a small town with an impressive history.

Skara is located by the E20 highway about 150 kilometers north of Gothenburg. It is located in the middle of the Swedish mainland in the medieval age, on roads meeting from the east and west.

The name Skara comes from Sk?ra or Skarv, which may be an indicator of the terrain, but no one knows for sure.
