Sindal


 

Sindal is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in North Jutland County on the island of Vendsyssel-Thy at the top of the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 242 km², and has a total population of 9,425 (2005). Its mayor is Søren Risager, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

By January 1, 2007 Sindal municipality will cease to exist due to Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Hirtshals, Hjørring, and Løkken-Vrå municipalities to form the new Hjørring municipality. The new municipality will be the largest on Vendsyssel.
