Simplistic
![]() Simplistic is an adjective, describing something as overly simplified, i.e. not including all of the factors that actually should be considered. Example: "It turns out that the calculations of Newtonian physics are simplistic - Einsteinian physics demonstrate a much higher degree of complexity to the calculations, particularly when the measures of speed or time are larger than human scale." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The term is often incorrectly substituted when the word "simple" should be used, in the sense of simple that means "not possessing many attributes or complications." In a sense, "simple" is the opposite of "simplistic," in that simple means not complex, whereas simplistic points to an insufficient appreciation of how complex the thing described really is. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
