Simon Phillips
Simon Phillips (born February 6, 1957) is a leading British jazz and rock drummer who has toured, and especially recorded, with a wide variety of musicians and bands (full list of session credits at Simon's website). He is best known for his work with Chick Corea and Toto, but has played with a wide array of musicians including Jack Bruce, Mike Oldfield, Mick Jagger, Camel and Stanley Clarke. He also was the drummer for The Who in the 1989 USA Reunion tour, and appeared on recordings by band members Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. His work that differs most of anything he has done is his recording of Judas Priest's album "Sin After Sin", the only heavy metal album he's ever played on.
Musical Style
Simon is an extremely professional virtuoso and is considered among the top drummers. He has an extraordinarily precise beat, crystal-clear, high-pitched sound, very technical and complex inserts and fills. Despite this he has very sensible "feel" and adapts his style to the music he is playing.
