Siegen is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the capital of the district Siegen-Wittgenstein and place of a university. As of December 31, 2003 it has a population of 106,143.

From 1606 to 1743 Siegen was the capital of the County of Nassau. The Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens was born in Siegen in 1557.
