Siege (band)
Siege formed in 1983 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Siege was part of the 1980s Boston hardcore punk scene. Many credit Siege as the pioneering grindcore band; others credit the UK band Napalm Death, who coined the term 'grindcore'. However, in a 1991 interview with Flipside fanzine, Shane Embury (Napalm Death bassist 1987-present) named Siege, via their widely fan-circulated demo tape, as Napalm Death's primary influence.

Siege's only official original release was 3 songs on Pushead's classic 1985 hardcore compilation called Cleanse the Bacteria. Siege recorded a 6-song demo tape at Radiobeat Records on February 6, 1984. The demo was produced by Lou Giordano (Hüsker Dü, Negative FX, S.S.Decontrol, Proletariat), and has been extensively bootlegged.
