Shipping News is an American indie rock band. The group formed in the fall of 1996 when members Jason Noble and Jeff Mueller collaborated to create music for the Chicago-based syndicated National Public Radio program This American Life. The group's sound is similar to those of of earlier Louisville, Kentucky indie rock bands such as Slint and Rodan (band).
