Shep
Shep, short for "shepherd", is a common name for herding dogs. Some well-known examples include:

- Shep, a famous Blue Peter dog, a border collie, remembered by British TV viewers as inseparable from John Noakes.
- "Old Shep" as sung by Elvis Presley and many other country performers
Shep is also an abbreviation for Sheppard and similar names. James Sheppard (d. 1970), commonly known as Shep, was lead singer of the Heartbeats and later Shep and the Limelites.
