Shelly Palmer

Shelton Leigh "Shelly" Palmer is a New York City based composer whose main specialty is music for television. He has composed many familiar themes, including the themes and underscore for Live with Regis and Kelly, Spin City, and MSNBC. In addition, he has composed several televison news music packages, the most prolific among them is the Palmer News Package which was originally composed for WCBS-TV.

Palmer won the award for Most Performed Television Themes at the 13th Annual ASCAP Film & Television Awards.

One of his most noted compositions was ?Anthem? which was commissioned by the Parsons Dance Company which received warm reviews from the New York media when it premièred.

He has conducted the London Philharmonic and was a guest conductor of the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Moscow during the 1988 Goodwill Games.

Palmer is currently on the board of governor's of the National Academy of Television of Arts and Sciences chapter in New York, and was the bandleader for the 2005 New York Emmy Awards.
