Shelby County is a county of the State of Alabama and is named in honor of Isaac Shelby, Governor of Kentucky. The county seat of Shelby County is Columbiana. As of 2000 U.S. Census, the population was 143,293 and was ranked the fastest growing county in Alabama and one of the fastest growing counties in the country.
