Shabazz


 
 

Shabazz was a name taken by El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (aka Malcolm X) based on the teachings of Elijah Muhammad. Muhammad described the name as belonging to the Black Asian or "Asiatic Black Man" in his book "Message to the Blackman in America".

In Arabic sha?b?azz translates to "a people mighty and glorious".

There is also a similar Persian name, Shahb?z, meaning "royal falcon". Indicating "royalty and nobility", the name is popular with Indian and Pakistani Muslims.
