Sha Tin District
Sha Tin District (Chinese: 沙田?, Jyutping: sa1 tin4 keoi1, Pinyin: Shā Tián Q?, literally "Sandy Field"), formerly named Lek Yuen, is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in the New Territories and, according to the 2001 census, has a population of over 600,000, including about 27,000 people living in 48 indigenous villages. Sha Tin District, covers the areas of Sha Tin, Tai Wai, Ma On Shan, Fo Tan, Siu Lek Yuen and Ma Liu Shui (i.e. the area around the Chinese University of Hong Kong).
