Sgt. Slaughter

Sgt. Slaughter (real name Robert Remus) was an American professional wrestler from Verne Gagne's AWA (American Wrestling Association) in the late 1980s. This is when his character was introduced into the Hasbro G. I. Joe product line. In 1990 he switched to the World Wrestling Federation. Slaughter's gimmick was that of a patriotic American soldier, an image he turned upside down in 1990, when his character turned against America and became an Iraqi sympathizer. Slaughter's heel persona was one of the most hated in wrestling history, though many people believe the predictability of the storyline majorly contributed to the poor ticket sales of WrestleMania VII.
